Big Round Top Stream by Jason Tako

The inspiration for this painting is a stream just below Big Round Top in Gettysburg National Military Park. I did a very small field study of it this last fall and used that to create this studio painting. I wanted to capture the beauty of autumn along a peaceful stream. A striking contrast to what took place here around a 150 years ago. I can't help but wonder how many soldiers used this as a drinking stream during the battle. Oil on linen, 18"x24" See more at www.jasontako.com.
